ट्रांसफार्मर के प्रदर्शन के अनुरूप करने के लिए ट्रांसफार्मर पर विभिन्न परीक्षण आवश्यक हैं। 

 मुख्य रूप से ट्रांसफार्मर को भेजने से पहले निर्माता द्वारा मुख्य रूप से दो प्रकार के ट्रांसफार्मर लगाए जाते हैं।  इसके अलावा कुछ अन्य परीक्षण भी उपभोक्ता द्वारा कमीशन से पहले साइट पर किए जाते हैं और समय-समय पर अपने जीवन भर नियमित और आपातकालीन आधार पर किए जाते हैं।

 ट्रांसफार्मर परीक्षण मुख्य रूप से वर्गीकृत है

(A) Routine tests:

 A Routine test of transformer is mainly for confirming operational performance of individual unit in a production lot. Routine tests are carried out on every unit manufactured.

All transformers are subjected to the following Routine tests:

§  Insulation resistance Test.

§  Winding resistance Test.

§  Turns Ration / Voltage ratio Test

§  Polarity / Vector group Test.

§  No-load losses and current Test.

§  Short-circuit impedance and load loss Test.

§  Continuity Test

§  Magnetizing Current Test

§  Magnetic Balance Test

§  High Voltage Test.

§  Dielectric tests

§  Separate source AC voltage.

§  Induced overvoltage.

§  Lightning impulse tests.

§  Test on On-load tap changers, where appropriate.

(B) Type tests

प्रकार परीक्षण एक ट्रांसफार्मर पर किए गए परीक्षण हैं जो अन्य ट्रांसफार्मर के प्रतिनिधि हैं जो यह प्रदर्शित करते हैं कि वे नियमित परीक्षणों द्वारा कवर नहीं की गई निर्दिष्ट आवश्यकताओं का अनुपालन करते हैं:

§  Temperature rise test (IEC 60076-2).

§  Dielectric type tests (IEC 60076-3).

(C) Special tests

 विशेष परीक्षण परीक्षण, दिनचर्या या प्रकार परीक्षण के अलावा, निर्माता और क्रेता के बीच सहमति है।

§  Dielectric special tests.

§  Zero-sequence impedance on three-phase transformers.

§  Short-circuit test.

§  Harmonics on the no-load current.

§  Power taken by fan and oil-pump motors.

§  Determination of sound levels.

§  Determination of capacitances between windings and earth, and between windings.

§  Determination of transient voltage transfer between windings.

§  Tests intended to be repeated in the field to confirm no damage during shipment, for example frequency response analysis (FRA).

(D) Pre commissioning Tests

 ट्रांसफार्मर को साइट पर कमीशन करने से पहले किए गए परीक्षण को ट्रांसफार्मर का पूर्व कमीशन परीक्षण कहा जाता है। ये परीक्षण स्थापना के बाद ट्रांसफार्मर की स्थिति का आकलन करने और कारखाने परीक्षण रिपोर्ट के साथ सभी कम वोल्टेज परीक्षणों के परीक्षण परिणामों की तुलना करने के लिए किए जाते हैं।
